FS#2 Launch date set.
Save the date(s) The launch date for FS#2 is set for Saturday May 19th, 2017 10 AM with a backup date on May 20th. The location of the launch will be near Anderson Dry Lake inside the Johnson Valley OHV area.
More details, including an exact location, will be published closer to the launch date so stay tuned for updates.
All are welcome to attend at the launch site but be aware this is a desert area and appropriate precautions need to be taken, such as carrying plenty of water, sun screen, food. There are no bathroom facilities at the launch site, but some are available in the area. Ground conditions are likely be dusty and hot. Access to the area is by a well graded dirt road. Very young children are not advised as there may be significant motorcycle & OHV traffic in the area. You are responsible for the safety of you and your family.
If you are not able to attend in person, you can tune in via radio or the internet. A guide on how to listen for FS#2 and monitor its flight progress online will be published soon.
A number of conditions may cause a postponement of the flight, mostly likely wind conditions. For safety, the prevailing winds need to not be blowing Westward, so that the flight will not pass over densely populated city. Thus, dates are subject to change if weather and other conditions do not cooperate.
Updates will be published here and on the Squirrel Engineering Facebook page.
